What Medical Marijuana Can Treat

Pain is the number one thing that medical marijuana is prescribed for, simply because there are so many things that can cause pain. A laborious and physical job can cause joint degeneration and muscle soreness that leads to chronic pain. Other illnesses and diseases come with a big whopping dose of ouch as well. Different strains of marijuana are better for pain than others, so make sure to ask at the dispensary which one will work for you.

California Readies for Recreational

Right now, the city of San Francisco only offers one type of marijuana license, so now that the state has added 17 different types, they will have to figure out if they also want to allow all those different types of businesses within their borders. Right now, they only allow dispensaries. If they decide to allow cultivation, they will have to set the regulations of where it can be grown and how much can be grown at one time.

Hawaiian Weed Farmer Uses Wild Bulls to Scare Thieves

One Hawaiian weed farmer is resorting to another sort of security system that is not quite as usual. He is allowing a bunch of cows, belonging to cattle rancher friends, to graze on the property, which is about 40 acres. The cows will clear the brush and increase visibility so it will be very hard for anyone to sneak onto the property to steal any amount of marijuana. Since cows are pretty peaceful creatures, he is putting up signs that say "wild bulls" because that sounds a lot scarier than a mama cow grazing on some grass.

Is There a Link Between Weed Usage and Dreams?

Most people agree that smoking an indica heavy blend of weed is the best kind of thing to smoke if you are trying to use weed so you can sleep better. The Tech Industry Gets in on Cannabis

Until now, the weed industry has had to live underground, which means that they haven't been able to benefit from the same types of technological advances. However, with states like Colorado, Washington and Alaska on board, California could tip the scales and make weed the next new startup idea. Many startups are located in the state to begin with, and people who live and work in the state are typically a fan of start up culture, so it is a natural fit.

Cannabis in Pre-History

Marijuana was the ideal crop to trade during the times before historic record. This is because it had so many uses at the time. Now we just use it to make ourselves feel good but at the time people used the whole plant to create fibers for rope and clothing. The trade road started by this tribe, known as the Yamana, later grew into The Silk Road, the large trade network that developed later on in history and facilitated the exchange of not only goods but also ideas between cultures.

Football Player & Marijuana Advocate Eugene Monroe Retires

Eugene Monroe is a great player, but most people will probably remember him for being one of the key players who asked the NFL to reconsider their position on allowing players to use medical marijuana. The reason for this is because the NFL doctors often prescribe painkillers that are much more harmful to the body than marijuana. His views were quite controversial to his team, and he thinks that might be one of the reasons he was "released" from his position earlier this year, though no one can know for sure.

Marijuana is a Bipartisan Issue

It's heartwarming to see at least one issue that everyone can agree on in this day and age when politics are so controversial and there are lots of issues that do not encourage people to reach "across the aisle." If there's one thing everyone wants to get along about, it's weed. That's the nature of the substance in the first place, so it's quite fitting that everyone should finally see eye to eye.

Medical Marijuana Helps Prescription Costs Drop

It shouldn't be a surprise that medicare prescriptions costs are lower in states which offer access to medical marijuana. This has actually long been a fear of pharmaceutical companies - that medical marijuana would make many of their expensive drugs somewhat obsolete. It's clear that in states with MMJ, the common abbreviation for medical marijuana, doctors and prescribing authorities prefer to give out scrips for the natural herb rather than prescription pills which could have nasty side effects that go far beyond the munchies.

Conservative Utah Considers Medicinal Use

According to the ACLU, it's not just a perception that weed is an issue that everyone - even conservatives - care about, it's true! Some political analysts believe that this is because the conservative parties have gotten an injection of pure libertarianism in the past few years, and one tenet of being libertarian is that they believe the government should keep their noses out of most things. Thus, with a more libertarian look at things, more conservatives believe that weed laws should be up to the states and may even believe that it should be up to individual people when, how and why they want to use marijuana.

Welcome to Medicinal Marijuana, Australia

Some of Australia's 8 states had already legalized weed for medicinal purposes prior to a bill allowing medicinal marijuana being passed, but the Australian legislators believe that it will be better for the whole country to have a more cohesive plan that will hopefully make it easier for those who need marijuana to get it. It's just one step closer to a world where anyone who wants to get their hands on some weed to feel good, or to help their health, can do it.

Oh Cannabis! Canada Legalizing Marijuana Finally

Canada's legalization of weed would be breaking a bunch of international treaties that were invented to help prevent drug trafficking across borders, but really just served to provide useful fodder for the prison-industrial complex that has been flourishing in developed nations. If Canada legalizes pot without any repercussions from other countries who are part of these treaties, it could pave the way for other developed nations to legalize more easily. There always has to be a first!
